Materazzi suspended for one game due to involvement in Chennai vs Kerala post-game tiff

JUST BEFORE THE FINAL WHISTLE at Matchday No. 26, Belfort of Kerala Blasters FC and Blasi of Chennaiyin FC were spotted have a verbal confrontation just before the final whistle was blown.

The game between Chennaiyin FC and Kerala ended in a goalless draw. Interestingly, the match did not have an ill-tempered mode anytime during the game and just a single yellow card being issued. Not sure what was spoken between the two players but it did not involve any physical contact until Materazzi entered.

The CFC coach appeared to be trying to pacify players at first but later was seen pushing away someone probably from the Kerala physio staff. But what exactly caused the suspension is not very clear from the ISL statement below.

Materazzi was found guilty of ‘misconduct against opponents or persons other than match officials’ under AIFF Disciplinary Committee Article 49 C for his unsporting behaviour towards a team official of the opponent team after the Hero ISL 2016 Match 26 (29th October 2016 vs Kerala Blasters FC) at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.
