FORMER BRAZIL AND Chennayin FC player Elano has been charged on three counts by Margao Police following his altercation with FC Goa co-owner Dattaraj Salgaocar after the ISL final in Goa.
After Chennaiyin FC secured the title, Elano reportedly punched the opponent team's co-owner. The FC Goa team refused to attend the prize distribution ceremony as a result.
After the match Elano was taken to the Margao police station where he remained for 4 hours before being released on bail. He returned to Chennai with the rest of his team.
Finally, the Margao police has charged him on account of 15 testimonies, including from 2 unnamed FC Goa players, under section 334, 341 and 504; two of which are non-cognisable.
Although Elano has left the country and is under no immediate threat of arrest, having a case against him puts a question mark on whether he will return to India to take part in ISL 2016.
