Win it for the Chennai flood victims: marquee Elano issues ISL final battle cry

ELANO BLUMER, former Manchester City and Brazil star attacking medio and the marquee player of ISL franchise Chennaiyin FC, has said that his team wants to win the ISL final for the people of Chennai, the city his team represents.

He was referring, of course, to the floods that Chennai just underwent. High levels of water hugely disrupted the city's vital operation and daily life, and forced ISL to change the venue of a semi-final match. Elano said,

"It is sad what has happened in Chennai due to heavy rain which caused loss of property and lives and we have to shift our home semi-finals to Pune."

The change of venue, however, appeared not to phase the Chennaiyin FC team as they beat defending champions by a 3-0 margin in that game. At home, in the return leg, ATK beat them 2-1, but it was enough for Chennai to go through to the final by a 4-2 aggregate.

Elano said that the squad will push for victory to pay tribute to their home city and fans who were affected by the natural disaster,

"Now we are looking for the win so that we can dedicate it to our Chennaiyin FC fans and the victims, who have backed us from the start."
