Asian Champions Trophy 2023: Innovative 'pass the ball' trophy tour launched

THE ASIAN CHAMPIONS TROPHY, the premier hockey tournament of Asia, will be held in India this year.

This will be the 7th edition of the competition. India have won it three times in the past, including once as joint winners along with Pakistan.

The 6-nation tournament (India, China, Pakistan, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia) will kick off on 3rd August in Chennai. To build up to that, Hockey India have launched a nationwide trophy tour.

The trophy tour is following an innovative "pass the ball" format where representatives of one city will ceremonially play a hockey ball towards a representative from the next city where the prestigious trophy will make a pit stop.

The inauguration of the tour took place today in Chandigarh, which has long been a hotbed for Indian hockey.
