THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL TEAM HAVE announced their picks for the preparatory camp ahead of the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2022.
The continental championship will be held in India for the first time since 1980. Australia are one of the heavyweights in the competition, having reached the final in the three previous editions in a row from 2010 to 2018. They became the champions in 2010.
They also reached the Round of 16 in the 2019 World Cup, and pulled off a remarkable campaign in the recently held Tokyo Olympics finishing in the 4th place. The Matildas are being considered by many as the outright favourites to become the Champions of Asia, ahead of the defending champions Japan, thanks to their recent form.
The majority of the players in the camp play in European clubs, including some who are in popular clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, West Ham and Tottenham.
