MMA - ONE Championship flagship events to resume from July 31st

ONE CHAMPIONSHIP IS returning to a schedule of holding 3 events per month, almost 5 months after the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to hit pause on their flagship events.

While the ONE Hero Series, a developmental branch of the promotion in China, has returned to action behind closed doors in June, the flagship events that feature international talent have not yet resumed.

But last evening, ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced the resumption of events from July 31st in a Facebook post.

ONE's last flagship event took place on 28th February in Singapore behind closed doors. The event featured Ritu Phogat's second pro fight, where she beat Wu Chiao Chen by unanimous decision.

The newly announced events will also take place without a live audience. The return-to-action event in Impact Arena, Bangkok will feature two Muay Thai title bouts. Rodtang Jitmuangnon will defend his Flyweight (61 kg, 135 lb) belt against Petchdam Petchyindee Academy while Phetmorakot Petchyindee Academy's Featherweight (70 kg, 155 lb) strap will be up for grabs against Yodsanklai Fairtex.

Notable Indian MMA fighters in ONE Championship who have been waiting in the wings on the back of a win include Arjan Singh Bhullar, who is set to fight Brandon Vera for the Heavyweight championship, Roshan Mainam Luwang who after winning his debut fight has been looking for a quick second bout, Rahul K Raju who has submitted the last two opponents he has faced in ONE and Ritu Phogat, a budding star who is eager to test herself against a tougher opponent in her third professional outing.
