Mumbai FC Coach Santosh Kashyap has been sacked in his first season at the club

IT WAS ON THE CARDS BUT JUST A MATTER OF WHEN the decision would arrive. Santosh Kashyap, Head coach of Mumbai FC has been sacked reports the Times of India.

A change at the apex coaching position was expected to bring in a renewed vision and it did, with the management and coach announcing that it the club, that has been fighting relegation will aim to finish in the top three. A statement that looked very promising after two games in charge getting in maximum points for the club.

After those games, and it has been 14 games in total and Mumbai has firmly placed at the bottom of the table with 10 points. Amidst poor performances, there were other allegations of sacking three of the crowd favourite players that the coach was accused of. The management has been taking a tight lipped approach on all matters raised by the fans.

It is now known that, on Thursday, the club's deputy vice president Atul Badgamia met with Kashyap and told him that they were done with his services. “While the management was happy with the changes he brought about in the training methods, the results simply didn't go in his favour. He just had to go,“ a source told Times of India.

A senior player also shared leading to the belief that the sacking must be true,

“They didn't give us a reason. They just said that the training is rescheduled for Monday“

With, 4 games to go in the league, Mumbai FC are struggling both on and off the field with controversies but to avoid relegation, it is a mammoth task. Winning all games and hoping the other results also favour them is the only way Mumbai FC can save themselves to be relegated next season
