GL Foreign Assets: Finch, McCullum, Roy & Smith...Gujarat will take some stopping

IN THEIR MAIDEN IPL campaign last year, the Gujarat Lions secured the top spot in the group stage. As this meant that the need for changes in the squad was minimal, the franchise retained the crux of Indian as well as foreign players. Dale Steyn was the only overseas player among the eight players who was shown the door in late 2016. 

Having a purse balance of Rs 14.50 crore before the IPL players auction, owner Keshav Bansal grabbed England’s swashbuckling opener Jason Roy for Rs 1 crore. The franchise also acquired UAE’s Chirag Suri apart from a plethora of other domestic players.
