Play by Play: Wastefulness cost Lajong dearly; Payne's brace enough to see East Bengal through

EAST BENGAL DID NOT GO ALL OUT in the entire game. Kaith's error allowed East Bengal to pick up an easy goal as Payne added a brace to have the away side sitting back comfortably with the two goal cushion.

The home side were wastefull out of a dozen chances created. A few of those oppurtunities did not even need the best of players to put it in the back of the net and Lajong still had Dipanda and Fabio in the squad. The attack by the home team continued even after the halftime break but the story wastefulness was to be continued. Samuel produced a beauty of a shot when he struck from a long range and on target. So good was his shot that it brough out the best in Rehenesh to keep that out.

East Bengal were not the attacking side they have been in the tournament in the game. Rafique and Payne did come close to scoring but those were all the chances they created in the game. Morgan made defensive changes in the second to confirm the cautious approach to the game and rather cement the lead from a strong attacking Lajong side.
