Kolkata Derby: Sanjoy Sen has 'unfinished business' in Siliguri, wants to aim for 3 points

MOHUN BAGAN HEAD COACH Sanjoy Sen has unfinished business at Siliguri.

Last season, the East Bengal home leg of the Kolkata Derby was held at Siliguri and Sanjoy Sen could not be at the sidelines due to suspension from AIFF. And during the game the assistant coach Shankarlal Chakraborty was also sent off by the referee, forcing Mohun Bagan to carry on without a designated coach on the bench. Mohun Bagan lost the match by a 2-1 margin.

Sen has not forgotten that match, and he said as much speaking to reporters before leaving for Siliguri with his team,

"We need 3 points from this game. Last season I couldn't be there and we lost. That is on everyone's mind."

With East Bengal on a massive winning run and currently occupying the top of the league table, Sen said he was aware of the improvements his rivals had made,

"They are a much better team this season. I know they have been working on their defence to stop us and so am I."

At the heart of the contest are two Haitian players, Wedson Anselme and Sony Norde. Two old friends, these two players have already "vowed enmity" with each other during the match. Social media is abuzz over fans of the two clubs arguing who is a better player. Sen refused to enter that debate, though,

"I have only seen Wedson play a couple of games. He and Sony play in different positions. It's impossible to compare the two at this point."

Mohun Bagan have not beaten their arch rivals Mohun Bagan since March 2015, and now that the two are locked in a fierce I-League title race, Sanjoy Sen is feeling the pressure to deliver a good result on Sunday.
