Friendship On Hold: Sony Norde won't have dinner with Wedson Anselme before #KolkataDerby

THE DERBY FEVER is already gripping East Bengal and Mohun Bagan fans, and it's not sparing the players either.

Mohun Bagan star winger Sony Norde is facing a predicament ahead of this particular Derby because his teammate in the Haiti national team and former club Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi, striker Wedson Anselme is playing for East Bengal.

Speaking to Bengali tabloid Ebela, Sony was asked how the relationship dynamic between them was working out before this high voltage encounter. To this, Sony replied,

"Wedson is my close friend. But I won't have dinner with him ahead of the Kolkata Derby."

Sony Norde has a record of never losing a Kolkata Derby match so far. Last time East Bengal and Mohun Bagan faced off, it was in Siliguri. Sony Norde could not play that game due to injury. And Mohun Bagan ended up losing that match 2-1; a big dent on their title aspirations.

The Boca Juniors academy product is currently dealing with an injury as well. In order to make sure he is fully fit for the Derby, he was not fielded in the last 2 matches of Mohun Bagan.

Wedson Anselme, a winter recruit of East Bengal, has quickly gotten himself used to the new club and has managed to net 4 goals in the I-League so far.
