2016 WAS A MILESTONE YEAR FOR Mixed Martial Arts in India. The popularity of the sport showed an improvement and a lot of Indian fighters made their mark on the international stage.
And this was the reason why we decided to run a poll where the fans could show their support for the fighters. More than 3000 fans casted their vote on the poll and with a share of 41 percent, Abdul Muneer has come out on top. He was closely followed by Gurudarshan Mangat with 36 percent.
Abdul Muneer made his mark this year at Brave Combat Federation where he went up against former UFC star Masio Fullen. Despite suffering a defeat, the fans are still firmly behind the Featherweight fighter.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans that voted and showed their support. All the Indian fighters out there deserve credit for the struggle and pain that they are going through.
One of the biggest motives for them is the support that they get from the fans and with such an overwhelming response for the poll, we are sure that 2017 will be a bright year for the sport in India.
We also apologize for the fans who voted in the Female poll. The voting pattern in the poll had shown some unusual and suspicious behavior and going ahead with such a poll seemed unfair to the fighters involved.
