East Bengal's new defender Ivan Bukenya arrives today, medical tomorrow

EAST BENGAL'S NEW DEFENDER Ivan Bukenya is arriving in Kolkata today to go through the signing procedure.

The Ugandan defender, who was discovered in 2007 by former English footballer Rio Ferdinand, made his name playing in clubs like Proline FC (Uganda), Arbil SC (Iraq) and Kaizer Chiefs (South Africa). He has also made 8 appearances for the Ugandan national team.

The 6 foot 4 inch tall imposing defender first caught the Red and Gold selectors' eyes during his Arbil days when East Bengal played them in the AFC Cup. Currently 25 years old, he is set replace Bello Razaq in East Bengal's I-League squad.

After arriving today, Bukenya will undergo medical tests tomorrow. The formalities are expected to be completed by the weekend.
