Play-by-Play: Pune turn the tables on league leaders Delhi, break into the top four in breathtaking goalfest

A CRAZY GOALFEST of a second half saw Pune City and Delhi Dynamos go on a scoring frenzy, building towards a climactic end to an unpredictable, hard fought contest that Pune clinched by a 4-3 margin.

The game was action packed from the start. Both sides got chances but thanks to some great defending and goalkeeping the score remained goalless for a long time. Both keepers, Soram Poirei for Delhi and Edel Bete for Pune, made some great saves; especially Delhi's Poirei who saved a penalty taken by Sissoko early on.

The first goal came from Delhi's Kean Lewis, who tapped the ball in from close range after Leo Moura found him with a great pass. At half-time the visitors were ahead.

Early on in the second half, Anibal headed home a great free kick from Jonatan Lucca, bringing Pune level. A few minutes later, Jonatan Lucca's pass went to Sissoko who found the net. And just about a minute after that, Rocha failed to receive an easy ball coming towards him, and Anibal got to it and fired it into the net. In a matter of minutes, Pune City had taken a 3-1 lead.

Then Delhi got one back. Eduardo's attempted clearance went into his own goal, allowing the visitors back into the contest. Then Jonatan Lucca played the architect again, finding substitute Lenny Rodrigues inside the box. Lenny scored, sending Pune 4-2 up with minutes left in the game.

But seconds later, Delhi had got one back, once again. Florent Malouda took aim at the goal, Edel saved, the ball went to another substitute Sawntea who shot it into the net. It was 4-3, and the last couple of minutes of added time was a crazy affair of counter attacks and set pieces where no one could rest for a moment.

Eventually, the final whistle came, and with it the confirmation that Pune City had conquered the table toppers and found their way into the top four. Right now they are fourth with 15 points from 11 games. Delhi Dynamos, meanwhile, are still top, with 17 from 11.

This means the race to the top four is far from over, with literally no one guaranteed a spot in the playoffs yet. Not even the league leaders. This fight is going down to the wire.

Here's how the entire match unfolded, narrated through our blow-by-blow real time updates of the contest...
