My biopic will emphasise on my struggle to become an international tennis player: Leander

INDIA’S TENNIS ICON Leander Paes has shown great hunger and commitment to the sport by serving the nation for over 20 years. Despite winning plenty of laurels in his lengthy career, Paes has shown no signs of slowing down. The tennis maestro has won eight doubles and ten mixed doubles Grand Slam titles, and is the oldest man to have won a Grand Slam title.

Paes, who recently Kolkata to attend a felicitation programme of All India Tennis Association (AITA) secretary Hiranmoy Chatterjee, stated that he shall be targeting for more glory in the coming season.

“I am playing for the history books now. 2017 will be about world records. I have a couple of records I want to chase. That is what keeps me going at 43 because, believe me, it is not so much fun working out for 30 years. But now I am looking forward to off-season training.”

When asked whether a biopic based on his life story is in process, Paes divulged,

"It will also come but not immediately. The preliminary discussions have begun.”

Paes further revealed that his biopic will emphasise on his struggle to become a successful tennis player.

“My biopic will try to emphasise on my struggle to become a tennis player. It will try to show how I have fought back to establish myself through an extensive hard work almost throughout the life. My biopic will be made in a way which can set example for the new generation tennis players."

Paes has shown eagerness to play in the forthcoming Davis Cup, however, it remains to be seen if the AITA will pick the 43-year-old in the Indian squad for the tie against New Zealand.
