East Bengal part ways with star midfielder Do Dong-hyun

EAST BENGAL ARE parting ways with their star attacking midfielder Do Dong-hyun.

The 22 year old diverse attacking player who can also play as a striker or a winger joined the Red and Golds in the summer of 2015, after a stint with NorthEast United in the inaugural ISL. Immediately he became a fan favourite with his calm finishing skills and lethal free kicks. He played an instrumenta role in helping East Bengal win the Calcutta Football League.

But the South Korean had a mixed time in the I-League. In most matches his performance was found wanting, and he got into disciplinary troubles with the club due to his behaviour with the coach in the home game against Aizawl FC. But he did leave his mark by scoring in the Kolkata Derby against Mohun Bagan.

Do Dong-hyun featured prominently for East Bengal in the recently concluded CFL as well. But the club officials as well as newly appointed coach Steven Morgan were not convinced about his feasibility in the I-League squad. Hence they have decided to part ways.

Speaking to reporters after the news of his release from the club broke, Do Dong-hyun said,

"We've seen how Ranti Martins has done after being released by East Bengal. He's playing well at Pinang in Malaysia. Hopefully I'll get signed by a good club somewhere as well."
