Play-by-Play: Malouda mauls the defending champions as the Dynamos drown Chennai 4-1

MARQUEE FLORENT MALOUDA led the charge as Delhi Dynamos did the double over defending champions Chennaiyin FC, beating them 4-1 in their second leg encounter and going to the top of the table.

The high scoring game came alive early when a move initiated by Florent Malouda saw Richard Gadze put a low finisher into the net. The 15-minute early goal gave Delhi a momentum that they never looked back from. Only 10 minutes later, Gadze paid Malouda back with a good pass that the latter slotted in. It was the firtst goal for the Delhi Dynamos marquee and the home team were 2-0 ahead.

37 minutes in, a defensive error allowed Bernard Mendy to make his way into the Delhi box and get one back for the visitors, but in the second half Delhi just pushed forward with their existing momentum and took the game away from the defending champions. Kean Lewis scored in the 54th minute, and late in the game Malouda got his second of the night to make it a sweet 4-1 win for Delhi Dynamos.

This win ensures that Delhi Dynamos, with 16 points from 9 games, have gone top of the table. Chennaiyin FC, meanwhile, have slipped to the 6th place on the table with just 10 points from 8 games, with the prospect of a top four finish seeming harder for them than ever.
