Proud of the Bengaluru FC players for the spirit they have shown, says coach Roca

ALTHOUGH BENGALURU FC lost to AirForce Club in the AFC Cup final, head coach Albert Roca believes it was an amazing experience for the club that they can learn from and take pride in.

Speaking to journalists after the match, Roca said AirForce Club's victory was well deserved,

“I want to say congratulations to AirForce Club. I think they were superior and they deserved their win. From the very first moment we could see that we were not as comfortable on the ball and Air Force were playing at a level that we perhaps cannot achieve for now. This was another kind of football that we have never experienced before."

Talking about his own players, he said he was proud of the effort they had put in to reach this stage,

“We have tried, there’s nothing more to say but I’m still proud of my players. They have proved that [they have what it takes to] be here in the final. It was not easy."

Roca insisted that this loss didn't signify an end, but symbolized the ushering in of a new period in a club's history where continental silverware was a part of its regular ambition,

"It’s the beginning of a new era, you can see that competing at this level is even harder so there’s a lot of work to do. We look forward to being in the final again and will try to do better than today.”
