Overdue fees may cause FC Goa to be banished from Fatorda

FC GOA HOST NORTHEAST UNITED FC on November 11, 2016 in their next home game. The Sports Authority Goa (SAG) have said that this game would be allowed to be played until the dues for the use of the stadium are cleared.

Goa pain points

  • FC Goa have played three home games so far this ISL Season.
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa is a property of SAG.
  • Dues to be paid to SAG: Rs 1.67 crore
  • Goa police had initially refused to provide security for the first home game held on October 8.

SAG Executive Director V M Prabhudesai told to PTI yesterday,

"FC Goa which is hosting home matches for ISL has to pay Rs 1.67 crore as a fee for usage of Fatorda stadium. We have already communicated to them that the next match would not be allowed, if they don't pay the dues"

He also stated:

"The fees for usage of the stadium has to be cleared on time without any delay"

FC Goa are bottom of the ISL points table having played seven games so far. They have conceded 11 goals and managed to score just four in the current edition of the tournament. Zico, manager of FC Goa says the team has injury problems and the squad for the current season was finalised on deadline day so this gave them less time to get their act together to give a good results. With their current form, the chances of qualifying for the semi finals of ISL, are slim. The management, who had a shuffle following last year's controversy, will be the ones most impacted from this news. No official comment was available from FC Goa.
