Play by Play : Southern Derby endless goal-less as no chances were taken and some scuffle after the game

FIRST HALF saw Chennaiyin coming close to scoring when Dudu took a left footed strike and Nandy spilled the ball fortunately for him it fell to a Kerala Player and was cleared. Apart from that Chennaiyin just had another shot which was not threatening as the earlier one. Kerala did not have a single shot on goal. Kerala enjoyed possession early on but that was largely in their own half as Chennaiyin forward line pressed them every time they had the ball. This made Kerala play long balls mostly. Towards the second half we saw the temps dropping in the game as both sides tried to penetrate the defences.

Second half belonged to Kerala with Belfort running the show. He was in the clear on 3 occasions. The best chance of the this half fell to him as well when Rafique put in a great rolling ball in the box and Belfort was first to the ball. He did everything right but the finish. The seconf period was a half of injuries. Chopra, Hengbart getting injured and needed to be subbed. Chennayin FC made tactical substitutions and they paid off well with Peluso coming in on the left wing. He put in some great crosses but those could not meet the right players at the right place. For Chennaiyin FC Mendy had a chance where he shifted from one foot to the other and the resulting shot was a bit off target. But overall a game of not taking one’s chances. There was some action after the game between Blasi and Belfort which began just before the the final whistle. In the end it  seemed was settled by Mendy.

Kerala are unbeaten in their last 5 games and Chennaiyin play Mumbai in the next game and with a win could go joint top in the table.
