Play-by-Play: Late strike from Anibal salvages a point for Pune City, they hold Chennaiyin 1-1

TWO BRILLIANT individual effort goals made an otherwise dull match memorable, as Pune City held Chennaiyin FC to a 1-1 draw at Balewadi.

A long, lofted ball reached Jeje who wrestled his way past Ferreira and made a great first touch with his left foot. Pune keeper Edel had charged forward, and the shot went high enough to beat him and then dipped, hopping its way into the net. Chennaiyin FC were ahead 27 minutes into the game.

Pune kept trying to come back, and started the second half emphatically, but Chennai contained them well and their steam seemed to be running out. But towards the end of the game, Pune got a free kick from a good range, and recently introduced substitute Anibal sent a perfect kick that beat the wall and made keeper Kerr fall short as it kissed the post and found the net.

That was enough to salvage a point from this game and Pune coach Antonio Habas looked relieved not to suffer a defeat on his comeback game after serving a 4 game suspension.

This result means Chennaiyin FC cannot go top of the table at the moment; they are now placed third with 8 points from 5 matches. Pune City, meanwhile, have now gone 3 games without a win, an are at the 7th spot with 5 points from 5 games.

Here's how the entire game unfolded, narrated through our blow-by-blow live updates...
