Play-by-Play: Hume's penalty goal gets ATK a win over Delhi Dynamos in tedious contest

A PENALTY GOAL was the difference between Atletico de Kolkata and Delhi Dynamos, with Hume's conversion ensuring victory for the home team after a tedious encounter.

Both teams got chances to score in the first half, but failed to score. Delhi Dynamos got very close when at one point they made back to back attacks within seconds but Debjit Majumder made some great saves to deny them. ATK were making some fruitful runs up the wings, especially via Sameehg Doutie, but never really managed to get their finishes right. Iain Hume missed a couple of sitters.

In the second half, Gadze was about to have a one-on-one with Debjit and Sereno made a professional foul to bring him down. This resulted in the referee awarding Delhi a penalty and a second yellow to Sereno, reducing ATK to 10 men. But the opportunity went begging; Marcelinho's spot kick went over the crossbar.

Seconds later, Lalchhawnkima fouled Sameehg Doutie on the other end. The penalty was awarded and Iain Hume successfully converted it, ensuring that Atletico de Kolkata had a goal to show for to claim those three points.

The mostly dull encounter ended 1-0 in favour of ATK, and sent them to the second spot in the points table with 9 points from 5 games. Delhi Dynamos stay 5th with 6 points from 5 games.
