Bad ground conditions and heavy rain threaten FC Goa's preparations back at home

BAD GROUND CONDITIONS coupled with heavy bouts of rain have created a large question mark over whether or not FC Goa's practice can be held adequately in the near future.

The ISL franchise returned from its training camp abroad to much fanfare. And head coach Zico announced Monday to be a rest day for the players. But there's a bit of ambiguity over what kind of conditions they will have when they take to the pitch to go over the final preparations before their ISL campaign kicks off.

The Gaurs' primary practice ground, the SESA FA ground in Sanquelim, reportedly has bad ptch conditions. The back-up ground, the Naoga Villaga Panchayat Ground, is also not in a good shape due to incessant rain.

What's worse, after raining heavily yesterday, event today it has been raining in fits and starts in both Sanquelim and Naoga. Which means there's a good chance both grounds are at a risk of being water-clogged by tomorrow.

Goa's main football stadiums, at Fatorda and Vasco, are taken due to AFC U-16 Championship and BRICS Cup. Which means the Gaurs are having to make do with whatever's left, and the infrastructure that they've got is certainly not up to the mark for a team of that stature.
