What you're seeing now is an upgraded version of me, the World No 1 version: Saina Nehwal

SAINA NEHWAL who will be ranked world no. 1 after bringing home the first ever world championship silver believes that she can achieve a lot more in the future, given the way she has been playing at the moment.

Saina missed out on the gold at the worlds after losing against the reigning world no. 1 Carolina Marin 16-21, 19-21, but leaving this tournament aside 2015 has been a good year for the Indian shuttler. Winning the India Open Grand Prix and the India Open Super Series earlier this year, she has just added records to her name.

"Biggest challenge for me was to remove my mental block and Vimal Kumar helped me with that. Earlier when I was losing in quarters continuously and getting beaten by top players -- that was not Saina. What you're seeing now is an upgraded version of me, the World No 1 version," she told Times Now

According to her, moving to Vimal Kumar's academy has been a blessing for her career to take full swing.

"The biggest change is Vimal Kumar's effect on me — he made me believe in myself and gave more than his 100 percent to me on court. Both him and Prakash Padukone helped me achieve a lot and reach World No 1."

"My speed and strokes have improved and I'm playing faster rallies now,"

She also added that her latest challenge is to find a way to beat Marin.

"I have to find ways to beat Marin - full credit to her for pulling out the match (Worlds final). I was trying to be too safe. I didn't fight as much in the All England final but at the Worlds, I fought all the way - the judgement wasn't there though. Next time when we meet, I am sure I will do better."

Saina will now hope to continue her successive run in the upcoming Japan Open Super Series that starts on 8 September.
