Double relief for FC Goa: fine of Rs 50 lakh reduced to Rs 5 lakh by AIFF Appeals Committee

AFTER THE ISL Appeals Panel returned its 15 deducted points from the upcoming campaign and reduced the Rs 11 crore fine to Rs 6 crore, the AIFF Appeals Committee has also decided to reduce the fine imposed on the franchise by the AIFF Disciplinary Committee.

In a statement, the AIFF said that the franchise will have to pay only Rs 5 lakhs for deciding to boycott the prize distribution ceremony following the ISL 2015 final match.

Here's the statement from the football governing body in full:

"The AIFF Appeals Committee after considering various circumstances and conducting hearings attended by FC Goa were of the considered opinion that there were mitigating circumstances to reduce the penalty imposed of Rs. 50 lakhs by the AIFF Disciplinary Committee to an amount of Rs. 5 lakhs which should be paid by FC Goa to AIFF within 10 days of receipt of the order.

The appeal of FC Goa was directed against the order dated 4th March 2016 passed by the Disciplinary Committee of the All India Football Federation which had imposed disciplinary sanctions by imposing a fine of Rs. 50 lakhs for not being present for the Prize distribution ceremony on December 20, 2015, after the Final match of the second edition of the Indian Super League."
