Kohli becomes the ninth Indian Test captain to score 1,000 runs

INDIA TEST SKIPPER Virat Kohli has become the ninth Indian Test captain to score 1,000 runs. The prolific batsman reached the milestone and ended day 1 of the first Test against West Indies with an unbeaten 143. With his magnificent knock, Kohli has joined likes of Dhoni, Gavaskar, Azhar, Ganguly, Pataudi, Tendulkar, Dravid, Dev.

It was Kohli’s 12th Test ton and fifth as a captain. Interestingly, all five of his centuries have come in overseas condition. Kohli took over Test captaincy after India'limited-oversrs captain MS Dhoni retired mid-way through Australia tour in 2015.

With an excellent start to the four match Test series, Kohli looks to go past his personal best of 169.
