Anand-Ajay to face off in QF; Praneeth & Prannoy ousted from US Open

RECENTLY CROWNED CANADA OPEN WINNER Sai Praneeth and fifth seed HS Prannoy ended their campaign after losing their respective matches at the US Open Grand Prix Gold.

Sixth seed Praneeth was defeated by Japanese Kazumasa Sakai in hard-fought three game 13-21, 21-17, 22-20. Prannoy was trumped by Korean Lee Hyun 25-23, 23-21.

Anand Pawar defeated fellow-Indian shuttler Pratul Joshi 21-10, 21-13 to set up a clash against fourth seed Ajay Jayaram in the quarters. Ajay defeated Pedro 21-11, 21-15.

Tanvi Lad exits after losing the match to fifth seed Beiwen Zhang 21-17, 21-15 in the women's singles category.

Second seeded Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy ousted Japanese duo Kenya Mitsuhashi/Yuta Watanabe 23-21, 21-13 to face-off another Japanese pair Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.

Women's doubles Meghana/Poorvisha Ram too had a good outing. They trumped Ariel Lee/Sydney Lee 21-6, 21-6. They next face second seeds Eva Lee/Paula Lynn Obanana.
