Gurusaidutt & Ruthvika exit while others enter pre-quarters of US GPG

TOP SEEDS EARN A PLACE in the pre-quarters of US Open Grand Prix Old as men's and women's singles shuttlers Gurusaidutt and Ruthvika Shivani lost their respective matches.

Fourth seed Ajay Jayaram Raul Must 21-14, 21-9 and will face Portuguese Pedro Martins. Fifth seed HS Prannoy trumped Joshua Magee 21-9, 21-8 to set up a clash against semi-finalist of Canada GP Lee Hyun; Canada GP winner Sai Praneeth defeated BR Sankeerth 21-15, 21-7. The sixth seed will now face the Japanese who ousted Gurusaidutt in the pre-quarters. Anand Pawar and Pratul Joshi will face each other after defeating their opponents David Obernosterer and Milan Ludik.

Tanvi Lad is the lone shuttler in the women's singles category. She defeated Nikte Alejandra Sotomayor 21-6, 21-9 to face 5th seed Beiwen Zhang in the next round. Ruthvika was defeated by Ayumi Mine in hard fought three game match 21-19, 15-21, 21-8.

Both the women's doubles and men's doubles duo got a bye and therefore move ahead in the tournament.
