Primary goal is to win trophies, have an option of extending contract to 3 years: Zambrotta

THE INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE franchise Delhi Dynamos has once again got a marquee coach for the upcoming season. Replacing Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos is Italian full-back Gianluca Zambrotta. Talking to Times of India, he said that he was influenced by good friend Alessandro del Peiro who was part of the Dynamos in the first season to take up this job.

The World Cup winner aims to win trophies with the ISL team,

"My aim will be make the boys play attacking football while having a strong and organized defence. I also want to instil a sense of team spirit among the players. My primary goal will be to win trophies."

Sharing his views on clubs getting shut down at present in the country, he said,

"It is a common thing going around the whole world. We need to follow the Swiss pattern. If clubs cannot support themselves financially, then obviously this is what will happen. This is the flip side of the game. However, I still believe clubs should have the opportunity to participate in leagues."

The 39-year-old has signed a contract of two years and stated that he has an option of extending it to a third year.

"If the league gets extended to 10 months, we will see. I have a contract for two years with the option of extending it to a third year."
