Men's singles shuttlers start the US Open GPG on a positive note

THE MEN'S SINGLES SHUTTLERS started on a good note as they won their respective first round matches at the US Open Grand Prix Gold. After spending a week in Canada, the shuttlers now move their base to LA.

Fourth seed Ajay Jayaram and fifth seed HS Prannoy will try their best to deliver positive results in US. The sixth seed and Canada Open winner Sai Praneeth is confident moving ahead in the tournament.

Unseeded Gurusaidutt, Pratul Joshi and Anand Pawar are the other shuttlers who have moved ahead in the tournament. The only upset came from youngster Harsheel Dani as he lost his encounter. 

Prannoy defeated Calvin Lin 21-7, 21-6 and will face Joshua Magee in round two; Ajay got a walkover and he will now play Raul Must; Praneeth trumped Henri Hurskainen 21-13, 21-12 to play BR Sankeerth; Gurusaidutt beat Phillips Jap 21-8, 21-13 and faces Kazumasa Sakai next; Pratul saw off Kevin Barkman 21-13, 21-13 to set up a clash against Milan Ludik and finally, Anand defeated Peder Sovndal 21-7, 21-7 and will play David Obernosterer in round two.
