Prannoy & Jwala/Ashwini out of Canada GP while Ajay, Praneeth in SF

TOP SEED AJAY JAYARAM and fourth seed Sai Praneeth have qualified for the semi-finals of Canada Grand Prix. There is a possibility that both the Indian shuttlers might face-off in the finals. In the semis, Ajay defeated Harsheel Dani 21-18, 19-21, 21-8 to play Lee Hyun in semis and Praneeth trumped eighth seed Raul Must 21-14, 21-16 to be up Brice Leverdez.

Meanwhile it was all over for the Swiss Open champion HS Prannoy. The second seed was defeated by seventh seed Brice 22-20, 21-23, 18-21.

Both the women's singles shuttlers Ruthvika Shivani and Tanvi Lad too end their campaign after losing to Linda 16-21, 12-21 and Iris Wang 16-21, 21-15, 10-21.

Women's doubles shuttlers Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa gave their opponent a walkover. The defending champions therefore failed to defend their title.

Mixed doubles pair Manu Attri/Ashwini Ponnappa too gave their opponents a walkover. On the other hand, men's doubles pair of Manu Attri/Buss Sumeeth Reddy got a walkover and therefore qualify for the semis to face Andrei Adistia/Dong Adam.
