Canada GP: Positive results from the Indian shuttlers
IT WAS ALL OVER FOR THE YOUNG SHUTTLERS at the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix Gold as they suffered early exit. But such was not the case with the stalwarts playing in Canada. A good overall result as everyone progressed ahead in the tournament.
Top seed Ajay Jayaram, Harsheel Dani, fourth seed Sai Praneeth and second seed HS Prannoy got a first round bye while Pratul Joshi, Gurusaidutt fought their way to the third round. Harsheel had an easy route in the second round too as his opponent was not present and therefore entered round three.
Two Indians will be up against each other, Pratul and Harsheel will face off in round three.
The women's singles shuttlers Ruthvika Shivani and Tanvi Lad have qualified to the pre-quarters.
Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy, Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa and Jakkampudi Meghana/Poorvisha Ram too got a bye in round two and therefore qualified for the pre-quarters.
In the mixed doubles Manu Attri/Ashwini Ponnappa too have reached the pre-quarters. The second pair in the men's doubles category Akshay Dewalkar/Pranaav Jerry Chopra withdrew from the tournament due to injury.
