Canada GP: Top seed Ajay & Prannoy make a comeback; Jwala/Ashwini to defend their title
AFTER A WEEK'S BREAK where the top shuttlers took some time off to get better at their sport, the badminton action is back with the Canada Grand Prix.
After missing two tournaments in a row men's singles shuttlers Ajay Jayaram and HS Prannoy are back in action. Ajay seeded no. 1 while Prannoy seeded second.
On the other hand, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Kidmabi Srikanth have given it a miss. Tanvi Lad and Ruthvika Shivani will be in action in the women's singles category.
In the women's doubles defending champions Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa are seeded No. one and a lot will be expected from them. This year hasn't been that great for them but this will be the best opportunity as a title win before Olympics acts as a boost.
Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy are the top seeds in the men's doubles category while Akshay Dewalkar/Prannav Jerry Chopra are seeded second.
In the mixed doubles Jwala pairs up with Akshay while Ashwini teams up with Attri. The third pair in this category is Pranaav/Sikki Reddy.
