Modi raids the Paltan: date clash with rally forces Pro Kabaddi matches to move to Mumbai

EVEN BEFORE THE start of the season, Puneri Paltan have run into some logistical issues that have practically rendered them homeless.

Days before the PKL was all set to kick-start with its first leg of matches set to take place in the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Complex in Balewadi, things took an unexpected turn as the event ran into a clash of dates with a rally being attended by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

Franchise sources confirmed to TFG that the management tried hard to resolve that issue, but in the end they decided to avoid the logistical clash by moving their home leg matches to the National Sports Club of India indoor stadium.

Since PKL is a tournament packaged and presented mainly for TV viewers, this shift of venue isn't too much of an issue for the organisers. But the kabaddi fans in Pune, however, are set to mis out on the chance to witness from up close some thrilling fixtures of the season.

And not to mention, playing their own home leg in the home ground of their fellow Maharashtra rivals, U Mumba, isn't the ideal start for the Paltan team.
