BORN TO RUN: Budhia, the marathon-running boy wonder's biopic gets a theatrical release
WE HAVE SEEN several sports movies made in Bollywood out of which two were based on running. It was based on true stories, Paan Singh Tomar played by Irrfan Khan and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag played by Farhan Akhtar.
Now get ready to hear one more story which is a tad bit special as it is about a four-year-old Budhia Singh from Odisha.
"The more you try to stop me, the more I will run",
the trailer of the movie ends with this line recited by Budhia.
He became the world's youngest marathon runner as he ran from Bhubaneswar to Puri, covering 65 kilometres in seven hours and two minutes. For this achievement he earned a name in the Limca Book of records.
A documentary funded by HBO & BBC was made on the young boy's life named the 'Marathon Runner' which was released in 2011.
A movie made by Odia filmmaker Soumendra Padhi name 'Duronto' won the national award earlier this year for best children's film. Now this is being released for a larger audience re-packaged with a new title 'Budhia Singh - Born to Run'. Manoj Bajpai plays the role of his coach Biranchi Das and Mayur dawns the role of Budhia.
At present, the 14-year-old boy from Odhisa doesn't run for kilometres anymore.
