Germany's Brands shatters Ramanathan’s 2016 Wimbledon dream

INDIA’S RAMKUMAR RAMANATHAN went down to Germany’s Daniel Brands 6-7(5), 6-7(3) in the second round of the Wimbledon singles qualifiers today.

In the first set, both men began serving big and had little issues winning their games on serve. Eventually, the set had to be decided by a breaker. At 5-5, the German got the decisive point to nail the opener.

In the second set too, a similar trend followed. Both men once again indulged in a tie-break and this time, Brands with a 3-0 lead sealed the set and the match in an hour and 30 minutes.

After Ramanathan’s exit, India’s challenge in the singles event for Wimbledon has ended.
