Saina Nehwal storms into the final of Australian SS after thrashing Wang Yihan
INDIA'S TOP SHUTTLER and seventh seed Saina Nehwal is having an outstanding tournament at the Australian Superseries as she storms into the finals beating fourth seed Wang Yihan 21-8, 21-12 in the semis in Sydney today.
The only tough outing so far Saina has had was against Intanon in the quarters. The other matches including today's was a one sided affair. The World No. 8 was dominant throughout not giving the Chinese any room to get back in the match.
Everyone expected it to be a close match as Yihan dominates the head-to-head count but Saina had something else in store. It was a treat to watch Saina play the semi-finals, she played with a calm and composed mind with good and strong smashes that left her opponent stunned.
Saina who is still looking for the first title of the year seems unstoppable in this tournament as another Chinese awaits her in the final to be played tomorrow.
Sun Yu from China is Saina's opponent in the finals, taking the head-to-head count into consideration, it shouldn't be a problem for the Indian to claim the title. She leads 5-1 and looking at her present form nothing stops her from taking her first title of the year and the second at Australian Open.
Meanwhile, men's singles shuttler Kidambi Srikanth's campaign was ended by Dane Hans-Kristian Vittinghus in straight games, 20-22, 13-21. But nonetheless, the Indian had a outing in this tournament and his fans got to see the best of him after a very long time.
