NorthEast United FC rope in Mailson Alves from Chennaiyin FC
NORTHEAST UNITED FC have confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Mailson Alves from Chennaiyin FC. The 28-yer-old centre back, who played a significant role in the Chennai franchises ISL win, has become the latest acquisition for the highlanders.
Conceding 24 goals in 14 matches in the last edition of ISL, NEUFC look to strengthen their defence with Mailson’s addition to the squad. The Brazilian defender completed 33 tackles, 30 headers and nine interceptions for Chennaiyin FC en-route to the prestigious Hero ISL trophy last year.
The former Super Machan is the ninth player to sign a contract with the North East brigade after the likes of Jerry Mawihmingthanga, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Nirmal Chettri, Rowllin Borges, Subrata Paul, Sumit Passi and Yusa Katsumi pledged their future to the Guwahati-based outfit.
