With so much cricket happening these days, it doesn't take long to adjust to T20s: Amla

HASHIM AMLA, who joined Kings XI Punjab as a late replacement for Shaun Marsh, reckons that T20 is not just for the power hitters. The South African maestro believes there is no reason for a conventional batsman like him to not succeed in the shortest format of the game.

His recent run of form in T20s has already shown how well he has adjusted to the slam-bang version of the game. As reported by oneindia, the 33-year-old said,

"There has been a lot of T20 cricket of late and that helps. Yes you do try to hit a few, innovate but the basics remain the same. Everyone is trying to get better. You have players who have more power and there are players, who play according to the situation. Power hitting or any other way, you have to get the job done. Initially (as a conventional batsman) it does take a little bit of time but with so much cricket happening in all formats, it has allowed us the opportunity to adjust as quickly as possible.”

Amla added that even though his team is already out of the tournament, he wants to make the most of his debut season. The 33-year-old has featured in Ram Slam T20 league in South Africa and has also proved his credentials in the national colors. Once again in the IPL, Amla has silenced his critics and it will be interesting to see if Punjab retain the classy batsman for the next season.
