A thumping start for the Indian women's campaign at the Uber Cup
INDIAN WOMEN'S TEAM displayed a dominant show defeated Australia 5-0 in their first outing at the Uber Cup.
Women's singles shuttlers Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Ruthvika had comfortable victories as they defeated their opponents in straight games. Saina defeated Wendy Chen 22-20, 21-14; Sindhu beat Joy Lai 21-12, 21-11; Ruthvika defeated Tiffany Ho 21-5, 21-11.
The doubles pairs too had an easy outing as Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa trumped Wendy Chen/Gronya Somerville 21-9, 21-15 while Sindhu paired up with Sikki Reddy for the second doubles match and defeated Leanne Choo/Joy Lai 21-12, 21-12.
India next play Germany on Tuesday.
