Indian men's team trumped by Thailand 2-3 in opening match at Thomas Cup

THE INDIAN MEN'S TEAM failed to begin their campaign at the Thomas Cup on a winning note after they lost to Thailand 2-3.

Singles shuttler Ajay Jayaram and two doubles pair Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy and Akshay Dewalkar/Satwiksairaj lost their respective matches while Sai Praneeth and Sourabh Varma emerged victorious.

Ajay lost to Tanongsak 16-21, 21-12, 14-21; Attri/Reddy lost to Bodin Issara/Nipitphon 17-21, 6-21; Akshay Dewalkar/Satwiksairaj lost to Puavaranukroh/Kedren 15-21, 21-14, 15-21.

Praneeth trumped Khosit Phetpradab 21-11, 21-16 and Sourabh defeated Adulrach Namkul 21-17, 16-21, 21-19.

India next take on Hong Kong on Tuesday.
