UFC 198 Results: New Heavyweight champion crowned, Cyborg makes big statement

And new

UFC 198 is in the books and it will be remembered for the crowning of Stipe Miocic and the monstrous debut of Cris Cyborg.

The UFC 198 card did take a hit due to the withdrawal of Anderson Silva due to injury, but the show held up pretty well and the UFC fans went home with a huge smile on their face. The most notable fight in the Preliminary card featured Matt Brown and the in-form Damien Maia who went head to head. Maia continued his streak of good performance with a win via submission in the third round.

After wins for Mauricio Rua and Bryan Barberena, all eyes were rooted on the debut of Cris Cyborg. Leslie Smith, who showed the courage to take up the fight, had no chance at all once it started. Cyborg took her opponent out in just 1 minute and 21 seconds in the first round and announced her arrival in UFC.

The middleweight bout between Vitor Belfort and Ronaldo Souza was the co-main event of the night and it also produced a solid result. Souza knocked out Belfort in the first round itself but unlike the Cyborg fight, the first round went over four minutes in this one.

The biggest surprise of the night perhaps came at the main event when Stipe Miocic defeated Fabricio Werdum to become the new UFC Heavyweight champion. And what surprised everyone was the fact that the fight ended in the first round itself. Miocic seems like he is going to be a champion for the longer run. Here are the complete results from UFC 198.
