Yadlapalli settles for second place as she falters in the finals of ITF Asian Junior Tennis Championships

UNSEEDED XIYU WANG of China and eighth seeded Tajima Naoki of Japan claimed the Girls and the Boys singles titles at the ITF Asian Junior Tennis Championships MSLTA School of tennis at The Mhalunge Balewadi tennis Complex in Pune.

In the finals  played today 15 year Xiyu Wang of China currently ranked 206 stopped the campaign of   fifth seeded Indian Pranjala Yadlapalli 6-0, 6-1 in just under an hour to claim her first ITF junior title .

"I'm very happy and feeling nice to win the Asian title,"

said the tall Xiyu  who proved to be the nemesis for Indian girl players. Xiyu who did not lose a set in the tournament accounted for three Indians Snehal Mane , Mahak Jain  and Pranjala Yadlapalli On her way to the title .

" I will give my opponent all credit she played well , I felt a bit tired and just could not get going "

said  Pranjala after the match. Pranjala who was the reigning champion in both the singles and doubles however had the consolation of winning 120 ITF points which will propel her back into the top 50 bracket from the current ranking of 94 . Xiyu made 180 points ensuing an entry into the top 75 bracket

In the boys singles which was an one sided affair too Japanese eighth seeded Tajima Naoki currently ranked 126 upset second seeded  Filipino Alberto Lim ranked 31 in the world  6-3,6-1 in just over an hour. 17 year old Naoki who won his fifth ITF event said

"I played very well and felt confident from the  start of the event , it was hot when I came but I got used to the weather , I played great tennis the entire week It was a very well organised event and I feel happy to win here ".  

Naoki also made 180 ITF points which will propel him into the top 50 bracket , while Lim had to be content with 130 points 

The winners  trophies were presented at the hands of MSLTA Life Vice President Anand Tulpule ,  MSLTA Secretary Sunder Iyer , PMDTA President Arun Sane former national Davis Cup Coach Nandan Balorganizing Secretary Ashwin Girme welcomed the guests while Sameer Bhambre Proposed the vote of thanks
