Indians Yadlapalli, Jain in last eight at the ITF Asian Junior Tennis Championships

FIFTH SEEDED PRANJALA YADLAPALLI and unseeded Mahek Jain were the only Indians to enter the Last eight stage in the girls event as three seeds Included Indian Zeel Desai were shown the door in the pre-quarterfinals of  the ITF Asian Junior Tennis Championships the  Mhalunge Balewadi tennis Complex in Pune.

Fifth seeded  currently ranked 94 in the world  Pranjala Yadlapalli  survived a 2 hour 20 minute battle against  229 ranked Chinese Yanni Liu  winning ) 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 , while  unseeded Mahak Jain ranked 120 currently registered a tough 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 win over Japanese  Anri Nagata.

In the upsets of the day Zhuoma Ni Ma  of Japan ranked 149 ousted second seeded and world no 72  and second seeded Mayuka Aikawa of Japan 6-4, 6-3  , another Chinese Xiyu Wang ranked a lowly 206 upset third seed Indian Zeel Desai  6-3, 7-6(3) in just 1 hour and 55 minutes  , while  unseeded Filipino Khim Iglupas  upset fourth seeded and 81 ranked  Zhima Du of China 6-3, 6-4 in a one sided battle.

The Indian Challenge in the boys section ended with the lone survivor Adil Kalyanpur falling by the way side in the round of sixteen  . Second seeded and world ranked 31  Lim Alberto of Philippines scored outplayed Kalyanpur   6-3, 6-2 to make it to the last eight stage 

The local interest in the girls doubles was kept alive by the pair of Mahak Jain and local girl Snehal Mane as they made it to the quarterfinals edging out Juleta Budiman and Priyana Kalita  6-7(5), 6-2(10-8) ,  Yadlapalli also made it tothe last eight in doubles alongwith Japanese partner Mayuka Aikawa  the pair scored a 6-4,6-4 win against Sama Sathwika and  Mihika Yadav
