Happy that I was able to justify the faith shown by my seniors, DD’s opener Rishabh Pant

DELHI DAREDEVILS defeated table-toppers Gujarat Lions after chasing a 150 in convincing fashion yesterday by 8 wickets. DD's emphatic win was set up by openers Rishabh Pant and Quinton De Kock who blazed a 115-run partnership off 81-balls.

Pant, who scored a quick-fire 69 of 40 balls in his first match as an opener was delighted to have lived up to expectations. As reported by oneindia, the Under-19 cricketer said,

"Obviously, it's a good feeling to contribute something in team's victory, all the staff members and captain have confidence in me, faith in me and I just justified their confidence and faith."

The 18-year-old ascribed Zaheer’s advice to have helped him make the most of the opportunity.

"Zak bhai (Zaheer Khan) had told me that if you get an opportunity to play grab it with both the hands, and I just did that. He told me to not think too much about the game and how to play, don't take pressure and play your natural game and main thing is that I just played my natural game.”
