Adil Kalyanpur only Indian to win at ITF Asian Junior Tennis Championships

ADIL KALYANPUR  was the lone Indian player to enter the second round, as 13 Indian boys went down  at the BVG India, MSLTA B1 ITF Asian Junior Tennis Championships organized by Maharashtra State Lawn tennis Association and the Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association played at MSLTA School of tennis at The  Mhalunge Balewadi tennis Complex. 

In the opening round match Kalyanpur currently ranked 324 Showed grit and battled from the baseline to oust the 211 ranked Kawakami 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-5 coming back from a loss of the opening set in 2 hours 58 mins, in another close match local Wildcard 16 year old Siddanth Banthia ranked 428 squandered a 3-0 lead in the first set, to go down to second seeded and 31st world ranked player Alberto Lim  of Philippines in a close three hour contest the second seeded Lim scraped past  Banthia  7-6(4), 4-6, 6-2;

In another close match  Lam Ching of Hong Kong prevailed over 14 year old  Road to Wimbledon winner Dev Javia 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Top seeded Horie Toru of Japan ranked 27 in the world led 5 other Japanese players into the round of sixteen , only eighth seeded  Tajima Naoki went through a tough grind as he was given a tough fight by  national junior champion Vasisht Cheruku  6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

The Tournament was inaugurated at the hamds of Former Asian Junior Tennis champion Sandeep Kirtane who spoke about the importance of the tournament to the players  and MSLTA Secretary Sunder Iyer . organisng secreatry Sameer Bhambre welcomed the guests , while Ashwin Girme proposed the vote of thanks , ITF Supervisor Leena Nageshkar was present on the occasion.
