Santosh Kashyap leaves Salgaocar over management displeasure with performance

SANTOSH KASHYAP is expected to resign from his position as the head coach of Salgaocar FC today, apparently following disagreements with the club management.

The former Rangdajied United and Royal Wahingdoh coach took over at the club after a dismal start to the season under Scottish coach Malky Thomson. Under him the performance graph of the club went up almost immediately and they were able to ultimately avoid relegation.

But it seemed there was growing discord between the coach and the owners due to the Vasco-based club putting on a sub-par performance in the last two matches in the I-League, first losing to Bengaluru FC without a fight, then surrendering to local rivals Sporting Clube de Goa at home.

Kashyap's departure from the club leaves them without a head coach at a time when their Federation Cup quarter final clash against Mohun Bagan is just a few days away. But the club is expected not to look for replacements immediately. Instead they are sticking to the familiar by making assistant coach Mario Soraes the interim head coach of the team.
