I share a great camaraderie with Gambhir, says Uthappa

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS opener Robin Uthappa believes the camaraderie he shares with team skipper Gautam Gambhir is what sets the duo apart from the other opening pairs in IPL.

Uthappa, who won the man of the match award for scoring a striking 53 of just 28 balls has been playing alongside the aggressive batsman since the Kolkata franchise acquired the wicketkeeper a few years back.

As reported by cricbuzz, the wicket-keeper batsman said,

"We have played a lot of cricket together, and we run well between the wickets. With Gautam the understanding the camaraderie is great. The batting chemistry between the two of us is great."

The formidable opening duo combined for an 82-run partnership to beat Kings XI Punjab with more than two overs to spare.

Speaking about his understanding with the Purple cap holder, Uthappa added,

“If he is going after the bowling I do my bit to give him the strike and if I am doing the hitting then he makes sure he gives me the strike like he did today. It's very simple and you build partnerships with that. In T20 cricket if you build partnerships worth 50-60 runs you end up on the winning side. We're very cognizant of that fact.”
