Time is running out as the 'D' day is soon approaching - shuttlers up for China GPG challenge

TIME IS RUNNING OUT for the shuttlers as the deadline to book a place in Rio is soon approaching. China Masters Grand Prix Gold is the next challenge which begins on Tuesday. In this tournament, men's singles shuttlers are seeded and will look to improve their performance.

As usual Kidambi Srikanth will lead the men's contingent. The third seed will take on Lin Yu Hsien of Taipei in round one. Exiting the tournaments in the first round cost him his ranking which is No. 14 at present. He will want to give his best in China.

Seeded 6th, Parupalli Kashyap will look to make a comeback as he was out of action due to injury. His hopes of qualifying for Olympics has minimised because of missing out on several major tournaments. The Indian takes on Firman Abdul Kholik of Indonesia in the first round.

Swiss Open champion and 7th seed HS Prannoy will be up against Joo Ven Soong in round one and finally recently crowned national champion and 13th seed Sameer Verma will face Yi-Hsiang Yang.

In the women's singles category, Saina Nehwal is seeded second. Her first round opponent is Cheng Chi  Ya while 4th seed PV Sindhu's opponent is yet to be decided.

The runners-up at the Peru International Challenge, Manu Attri/Buss Sumeeth Reddy are seeded eight and will play Ruud Bosch/Oliver Leydon-Davis in round one of the men's doubles contest. Doubles National champions Akshay Dewalkar/Pranaav Jerry Chopra will be up against Yong Kai Terry Hee/Kean Hean Loh.

In the women's doubles category, unseeded pair of Jwala Gutta/Ashwini haven't been impressive in their performance lately and therefore need to up their performance. In the first round they face Sararat Chueboca/Chasinee Korepap.

The mixed doubles pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra/Sikki Reddy will have to win their qualifying round in order to enter the main draws of the tournament.
