Anderson Silva vs Uriah Hall

Anderson Silva vs Uriah Hall

When this match was announced for UFC 198, I had the same euphoric feeling of when the Barboza-Pettis match was made. Two deadly strikers in the UFC's Middleweight division, with KO ability in both their hands and feet, this is a recipe for a great match.

However, once the euphoria came down and I looked at the fight more analytically, I became more cautious and conservative when making premature announcements of this being a potential 'Fight of the Night' candidate. It may very well be that, but there's also a high chance that it may turn out to be a doozy, as both are predominantly counter-strikers who very rarely lead in the fight.

As was the case in the Thales Leites, Patrick Cote and Demian Maia fights, Anderson is a bit hesitant to pull the trigger when his opponent doesn't lead and the same could be said of Uriah Hall, who was underwhelming in his outings against Kelvin Gastelum, John Howard and Rafel Natal. So, while the fight is exciting to predict and surely will be one to watch unfold, a lot depends on which Anderson and/or Hall shows up.
